Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to common questions about CoolSculpting®.

CoolSculpting® uses controlled cryolipolysis to freeze fat cells, triggering apoptosis. Over weeks to months the body naturally metabolizes and removes those cells, reducing fat layers in the treated area. Results develop gradually and vary per individual.

Most patients experience initial tugging, cold, or mild pinching during treatment; numbness and tenderness can follow for days or weeks. No general anesthesia required and most return to work immediately, experiencing only minimal disruption to daily life.

Visible improvements typically appear within three to six months as the body gradually clears destroyed fat cells. Some patients see early changes in a few weeks, but optimal contouring often requires multiple sessions and time for full effect.

Candidates are close to their target weight with localized, pinchable fat pockets resistant to diet and exercise. It’s not a weight-loss solution for obesity; consultation assesses medical history, skin laxity, and realistic expectations.

Treated fat cells are permanently removed, but remaining fat cells can enlarge with weight gain. Maintaining stable weight and healthy habits helps preserve results; follow-up treatments available for new or recurring fat deposits.

Treatment plans vary by area size and individual goals; many patients need one to three sessions per area spaced several weeks apart. Your provider will design a customized regimen during consultation to achieve optimal contouring.
